My accountant made an extensively large error on my tax return resulting in me having to pay back a large sum of money to the ATO 11 months after lodging my return. The error was a simple typo by the accountant however, although they accepted responsibility, they did not offer a refund on the $95 fee to do the return. All they offered was a discount to do my next return remotely (not from my home as per standard arrangement). They always come to my home to do the return so this offer was insulting. These accountants rush their returns, they charge a lot of money for a short amount of time to pretty much upload your old return from the previous year. In the finance business if you make an error, the customer should (at least) be refunded their service fee.
